Summer Vibes

Patterns & Fresh White Tones:

I thought I would do a S/S14 outfit build from some of my favourite buys on my summer/holiday shopping spree. I put this outfit together for when the sun decides to come out again and stay out! I love the spring & summer seasons (when it's not raining).

Patterns - bohemian and festival and white coloured tones - sports deluxe and feminine shapes are two trends that seem to be really in this summer.

This outfit is more of a relaxed look, which can be worn in the day or night. With sandals, boots or wedges and a bomber jacket or blazer maybe.

Formal Patterned Joggers: Topshop
White High-Neck Crop: River Island
White Slip On Sandals: River Island
Necklace & Sunglasses: Topshop
Gold Watch: Guess

Assistant styling on Coronation Street press shoot

I was recently lucky enough to be asked if I would like to work along side a freelance fashion stylist, I was asked to assist her on a press shoot for Coronation Street. It was a really good experience to be involved and work on the famous cobbles of the Coronation Street set. The people I worked with were really nice and welcoming and I got to see quite a lot of the actors. I would definitely do it again.

The photo shoot was with a new actor coming into the well known British soap and an existing actor who had a big story line coming up. They were both lovely to work with and the shoot was great as everything fitted well and the actors liked all the outfits they were styled in. Clothing from River Island, Topman, Adidas and Jack & Jones were worn for their casual looks, as well as Zara suits and Kurt Geiger shoes for the smart looks, which suited the style the photographer wanted to go for depending on the various back drops and it suited the personal style of the actors.

I learnt that it's important as a fashion stylist to ensure that you follow the brief given for the shoot, as well as what the actors like because it is different to styling models for retailers, you need to take the actors personal style into consideration as well as putting your touch on it as a fashion stylist and choosing the best possible looks.

I appreciated getting the experience in this area of fashion, doing some networking and seeing what stylists do. It can involve a lot of early mornings, a lot of shopping and organisation, especially when you're freelance, but the stylist I worked with enjoys being able to work with different companies and has gained a lot of experience and contacts which has been beneficial for her working freelance. I will hopefully get to assist again.

Below are some behind the scene images from the day of the photo shoot.

The famous knicker factory - Underworld

Above is new character Luke, styled in a Zara suit, shirt and tie and Kurt Gieger shoes. The deep blue and mustard colour combination went together really well and complimented the actors skin tone.

Above is one of the back drops used at the photo shoot. The back drop was used to create a rustic, olden effect I thought it looked really good from the photographers camera shots. This was shot in the Imperial War Museum in Trafford, Manchester, next to the Coronation studio.

I am looking forward to seeing the actual professional photography shots and seeing when they are published. I'll keep you updated.

Chanel AW'15 Ready-To-Wear: Paris Fashion Week

With my love for Chanel, Cara Delevingne and Karl Lagerfeld I thought I would do a quick pic stitch of some of my favourite shots from the Chanel show at Paris Fashion week.

Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into a full-scale supermarket, not your average supermarket but a Chanel extravaganza that you didn't want to take your eyes off. Even the shopping baskets the models were carrying were made of Chanel chains or the quilted Chanel Classic.

The collection contained lots of eye catching pieces, such as candy coloured tweed, glittery layers and metallics with sporty cropped jackets and pony tails with tweed rags. Very individual with the Chanel trade mark as always. Women from a range of ages would find something they like from the collection.

The BAFTA Awards - Who wore what

The BAFTA Awards have finished and what a joy to watch. I am very interested in film and I think there have been a really good variety of films out lately, with some amazing actors and incredible performances. Two of my favourite being 'The Wolf of Wall Street' and 'Dallas Buyers Club'.

So with my love of fashion and interest in film and television art, I thought I would do a blog post on who wore what, and the outfits I liked. Also any excuse for me to stare at Leonardo DiCaprio and David Gandy really. Some British designers were well represented on the red carpet, which was fitting as London Fashion week was still in full flow. Obviously all the celebs were dressed to impress, so I had a good look through VOGUE news to see who wore what. I have also been keeping on top of New York and London Fashion Week news and shows through Vogue and Elle etc. (I would do anything to be able to attend one day.)

Here are some of  who I thought were the best dressed on the night, there were a lot of nice suits that caught my eye, from some of my favourite designers.

Firstly the amazing Leonardo DiCaprio, wore a Giorgio Armani suit. I always say you can't go wrong in black, but then again Leo can't do wrong in my eyes.

Bradley Cooper wore Alexander McQueen, which is one of my favourite designers. While Michael Fassbender wore a Tom Ford Tuxedo. I think they both definitely did the tuxedo's true justice.

I loved Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's tuxedo duo. Who could pull off a women's tuxedo like Angelina Jolie, yet still look so feminine and gorgeous! And as for Brad Pitt, talk about ageing well, they both look amazing. Angelina's tuxedo was tailored made by Saint Laurent, while Brad's designed by Valentino.

The gorgeous David Gandy, wore a chic black velvet suit jacket and tuxedo, which I think was Dolce Gabbana. He looked amazing as usual, and he seems to look better every time I see pictures of him.

Fearne Cotton, looked very eighties in a Scaasi gown from William Vintage. I think Fearne pulls this dress off, which is quite difficult due to the shape. I've always liked Fearne's quirkiness and how she isn't afraid to wear something different. I love her hair here too.

Kiera Knightly, at one of the BAFTA after parties looking lovely in one of Burberry's new designs, polka dots really suits her. I like the way she has paired a feminine, girly looking dress with a bit of grunge, by wearing a black leather biker jacket. Something I often do myself, I like to mix things up.

And last but not least, Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevinge at the Harvey Weinstein and Burberry Pre BAFTA dinner, both effortlessly wearing Burberry trouser suits. I like the colour and fit of the suits, and think they both look very classic.

I love Cara Delevingne, she is very in the spotlight in the fashion industry at the moment and doing amazingly well. From the Burberry catwalk with her personalised poncho starting a trend, to her new Mulberry bag designs and being the star bride of Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel catwalk show. She literally pulls off anything. I love her Instagram posts and follow her fashion updates.
