Earn your stripes

Striped top: H&M
Leather trousers: H&M
Bandana/neckerchief: Vintage shop

I feel like a modern day cowgirl in my bandana but I'll be honest I'm loving it. I went out for tea with my lovely Mumsy back in Manchester yesterday and the lovely waitress said I looked really cool, so that made me feel like i can pull off the bandana look... You know when you get that 'you go girl feeling!'

I've always been a fan of the saying 'it's nice to be nice' as the little compliments can brighten up someone's day!

With that in mind I thought I would do a post to update the neckerchief inspiration on the blog this week, with my first bandana outing. I decided to pair my favourite red one with a staple long sleeved striped top, for that laid back look. I'm recently realised I may have a slight obsession for stripes! My mum pointed this out as I purchased another similar top form H&M's range; which I must add they have some fab bits in at the mo.

But then again can you ever have too many striped tops?

Romantic Ruffles

Ruffle Tie-Neck Shirt: Topshop

Following on the French theme, I thought I would do a quick post about my latest purchase... Which I am loving and have had quite a few people complimenting and asking about where it's from.

Personally I think a crisp ivory shirt never goes out of style and should be a staple piece in your wardrobe, worn to acheive that day to night casual yet chic look. One of my favourite white shirt styles is my long white shirt, which has the right amount of structure (included in the 'Fluffy Dream' blog post).

So for those of you who are a fan of white shirts/blouses like myself and are dying to welcome the Spring/Summer season (can I get a heeeeellll yeah!) then refresh your wardrobe ready for the new season with this classic take on a white shirt; the tie neck gives the shirt an elegant feel paired with the ruffle detail giving it a romantic twist. All in all the right amount of smart and feminine for any gal!

I went for a sophisticated look here, styled with some leather trousers, hair up in a loose wave with black heeled boots. The blouse feels nice and lightweight and is quite versatile to suit different outfit looks, maybe style with a denim skirt or mom jeans for pared down nonchalance.

Parisian Chic

Originally did this post and totally forgot to save it and it dissappeared! Not ideal!

So with my love for anything striped, leather and basically French looking I thought i would do a post on my love for Parisian style.

One of my favourite books I have read recently is 'How to be Parisian'. A great read, with the right amount of intriguing content and eye catching imagery.

(Hard back book: WHSmith and at a good price too).

I am yet to finish it unfortunately due to the work load of final year coming down like a ton of bricks. Sugary baked goods have been just about getting me through!

On the subject of Parisian style I have been pinning quite a few street style looks that took my fancy, as I was looking for inspiration to wear my bandana as a neck tie - a key look this season, which will no doubt carry through. I've always liked the way Parisian styling creates an effortless yet chic look which is easily achievable. Some of my favourite pins I have included below:

Above image: Blogger 'The man repeller' cool name and very cool gal, check her out on Instagram and her blog for more style inspiration.

The above images all include similar items of clothing with I have so I'm looking forward to mixing it up in spring and summer with my bandanas/neck ties to create day to night looks after this cold weather has dissappeared! Check on my Pinterest for further style inspo!
